Systagenix Inadine Non Adherent Dressing
Description & Features
Inadine, consists of a knitted viscose fabric impregnated with a polyethylene glycol (PEG) base containing 10% povidone-iodine, equivalent to 1.0% available iodine. In the presence of wound fluid, the povidone-iodine, a potent antimicrobial agent with a broad spectrum of activity, is readily released from the PEG base. The dressing, which is designed as a low adherent wound contact material, is orange in colour. Unlike paraffin or lanolin used in manufacturing of some medicated paraffin gauze type products, the PEG base used in the production of Inadine is water-soluble and easily removed from the skin or wound surface.
The dressing may be changed up to two times daily in the initial phase or with highly infected wounds or a wound producing large amounts of exudate.
Moistening the dressing with Saline will assist removal from the wound. The use of Inadine dressing may be continued for as long as signs of infection or particular threat of infection of the wound area are present. If infection recurs the use of Inadine dressing can be resumed and continued at any time.
